Perl jam show newyork 2008 schedule

The Band Pearl Jam to play special charity show in July in Newyork this year.

The Band Pearl Jam will perform at the Beacon Theatre, just day after their US tour comes to a close in Mansfield, MA.

All the Revenue generated will be donated to Robin Hood organisation, a charity working for removing poverty from New York.

Peral Jam fans can buy show tickets by paying rs 100 $ to the Robin Hood Organisation.
One individual will be able to purchase 6 tickets at most.

Pearl Jam’s tour starts from July 11 in West Palm, FL. Kings of Leon will open on the first leg of the tour, June 11-17, with Ted Leo And The Pharmacists supporting June 19-30.

US Airways United Alive merger failed

The Three Months long discussion of Merger between US Airways and United Alive have failed finally.

US Airways CEO Doug Parker travelled to Chicago for merger talks with United alive. but he failed to convince the United Alive.

United Alive had fear that the merger between two airlines will create certain problems like Laour Opposition, Antitrust Issue etc.

US Airways' s takeover offer to DELTA Airlines was also failed earlier this year.

Delta plans to merge with Northwest.

Handbags maker Hermes plans to launch store in Newyork

The French maker of hand-stitched handbags and silk ties, Hermes SA , announced plans for its first store dedicated exclusively to men.

The 5,800-square-foot store, on New York's Madison Avenue, is expected to open in fall 2009.



Miles Avery awarded USA Gymnastics Coach

Miles Avery, personal coach for Paul and Morgan Hamm and Blaine Wilson, and Ohio State men's gymnastics head coach has been awarded the 2008 USA Gymnastics Coach of the Year honor after a vote by his peers at the 2008 VISA Championships last weekend in Houston.

Miles Avery hails from Philadelphia. He felt very proud on receiving such an honor and recognisation from peers.

Shakeika Mississippi national spelling bee

Shakeika Everett a student from Mississippi won the 1st place for the state spelling bee in march.
This was the final round of National Spelling Bee. This was her 1st time participation in such a competition.

Thursday, Everett took a stab at the word “indolent.” Everett didn't make it to the quarterfinals but all Mississippians are proud that she made it that far.

Mitsubishi cut performs 105 job cuts at illinois plant

Japan's fastest-growing car exporter Mitsubishi Motors Corp. plans to cut down 105 factory jobs by August at a U.S. plant .

Mitsubishi is doing so due to poor sales performance in USA.

Mitsubishi offered Voluntary retirement plan to its workers in illinois plant , and the Trade Union agreed for the reduction in the workforce.

The company manufactures Galant sports sedans, Endeavor sport-utility vehicles and Eclipse sports cars at the Illinois plant, USA.

Washington: A new study by researchers at the Louisiana State University and Baylor College of Medicine has found that fruit juices don’t make kids overweight.

The researchers from the Louisiana State University and Baylor College of Medicine made evaluation of 21 studies about a relationship between consumption of 100% fruit juice by children and adolescents and weight.

The researchers of the study are Carol E. O’Neil, PhD, MPH, LDN, RD, Louisiana State University, and Theresa A. Nicklas, DrPH, USDA/ARS Children’s Nutrition Research Centre, Baylor College of Medicine.

Nasdaq may list in Shanghai exchange

Nasdaq OMX Group Inc may get listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange if China changes allows listings by foreign firms.

China promised to open its domestic stock exchanges to foreign companies. Chinese media reported that the New York Stock Exchange was a front-runner to win the first such listing. Nasdaq's chief representative in Beijing, said his exchange would seriously consider such a move.

According to him this is possible. He said that a Shanghai listing would benefit both Nasdaq and Chinese investors.

"Nasdaq will acquire stronger brand recognition in China, and Chinese investors would get access to a good stock," he said.

New Jersey Governor signs family leave insurance legislation

New Jersey Governor Jon S. Corzine signed paid family leave benefits to employee legislation for employees caring for sick family members and newborn or recently adopted children.

Thus New Jersey has become the thirs state of USA to provide paid family leave. The other two US states which implement the family leave programme are California and Washington.

The Department of Labor estimates that approximately 38,000 employees or about 1 percent of New Jersey's workforce will gain benefit from this programme.

The United States dispatched four C-130 relief flights to Myanmar as a helping hand to face the natural calamity that struck the country Myanmar.

Arkansas' umemployment rate goes down

According to Labor statistics which was released on friday , stated that Arkansas' unemployment rate has gone down to 4.7 % which is the lowest since 2001.

National ( USA ) Umemploment rate is 5 %. The major gainers were the leisure and hospitality sectors. Accomodation and food services are the next contributor sectors for employment in USA.

Construction Sector was a gainer while Manufacturing sector is a looser.

The educational and health services sector were gainer. Government added 2,200 jobs Professional and business services added 1,800 jobs. Leisure and hospitality grew by 1,700 jobs; and the natural resources and mining sector grew 13.3 percent, adding 1,200 jobs.
